Judith Pinnell is a contemporary fibre artist with a passion for colour and texture. Born and educated in Australia, she lived in the United Kingdom for 29 years, where a a mature age student she obtained a City and Guilds Diploma in Design and Embroidery. Returning with her family to live in Perth, Western Australia, she began teaching machine embroidery in Perth and country Western Australia. In the early 1990s Judith 'graduated' to silk 'paper' and found it an exciting medium with which to extend her love of richly coloured textiles. Judith's teaching commitments to silk 'paper' now extend within Western Australia, interstate and New Zealand. Much of her inspiration comes from the colourful textiles found in India. Over the years she has frequently visited India, and her exploration of the markets, bazaars and villages has given her an eclectic collection of visual material to use in her work.
