Judy Wilford is a practicing artist, working with the mediums of fabric and thread. For over 35 years she has developed hand stitching techniques that combine the traditional and the contemporary; drawing on careful research, design practice, and personal sketching, painting and object-making. She exhibits regularly in the Australian Craft Show, The Bungendore Woodworks Gallery and Regional Galleries of NSW and QLD, and has held several joint exhibitions. Judy has had work selected for TAFTA and Oz Quilt in the 'Australia Wide' travelling exhibitions, along with inclusion in several publications. Judy's works are held in Diplomatic, Corporate and private collections around Australia and internationally. In 1999 she was awarded a Churchill Fellowship, to study and compare Ancient and Contemporary Narrative Embroideries in the United Kingdom. Judy has received several awards from the National Australian Society of Miniature Arts. Judy is a renowned tutor in her subject areas of Landscape and Birds in Habitats, travelling throughout Australia and New Zealand. She has also lectured at The McGregor Summer Schools, at the University of Southern Queensland.
