ANNOUNCEMENT: Due to COVID-19, the Lady Anne’s Festival will no longer take place as planned in Appleby-in-Westmorland in 2021. A physical event is now being planned for July 2022 and online experiences will replace our 2021 event. More information will be published in the coming months and updates to this page will be made. Please visit https://www.crewelwork.com/pages/needlework-tours for more updates and further information.
The festival is a gathering of top international embroidery tutors. 1, 2 and 3 day workshops will be available featuring a vast array of exclusive designs, and you are able to build your own itinerary of workshops, lectures and excursions.
Did you know – Jane Nicholas’s embroidered ‘Border of Shakespeare’s Flowers’ was inspired by the painted border of a letter written by Lady Anne Clifford to her father in 1598. The border contains fourteen assorted flowers and fruits popular at the time and can be found in her book ‘Shakespeare’s Flowers in Stumpwork’.
